The Wisconsin DNR has announced that the **2026–2027 general inland fishing season opens Saturday, May 2**—and there’s no better place to be than the Northwoods.

• Inland trout season is already open (April 4 – October 15)
• Muskellunge season opens May 2 statewide
• New species-specific bag and length limits on select waters

🐻 BE BEAR AWARE THIS SPRING 🌲
As temperatures warm up, black bears across Wisconsin are waking up and on the move — which means increased chances of encounters this time of year.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding everyone to take simple steps now to avoid unwanted run-ins.
Bears aren’t looking for trouble… they’re looking for FOOD. And once they find an easy meal, they’ll keep coming back.
Here’s how to keep bears away:
• 🚫 Never feed or approach bears
• 🗑️ Secure garbage, food, and recycling
• 🐦 Take down bird feeders when bears are active
• 🐾 Don’t leave pet food outside
• 🔥 Clean and store grills after use
• 📣 Let neighbors know if you see bear activity
🐻 If you encounter a bear:
Stay calm, make loud noises, and slowly back away — never run or corner it.
While bears are more common in northern Wisconsin, sightings are becoming more frequent in other areas too — so it’s important for everyone to stay aware.
