At Lake Owen, May is the month each year that the Lake Owen Association send out their trained professionals to operates a hot water, high pressure boat washing station to remove aquatic invasive species from boats entering at the North Landing by the outlet and to have decontamination stations using a mild bleach solution at Otter Bay and the Two Lakes Campground. The Bayfield County ordinance reads, in part, as follows:
“(b) If a decontamination station is available for use at a public or private access, the boater shall decontaminate per posted directions and/or inspection protocol using the decontamination station provided."
Below is one Lake Owen resident stopping at the power washer at 7:00 a.m. this morning. Thanks to the cooperation of the public and the Lake Owen Association dedicated field workers, no new invasive species have entered Lake Owen.😀
