Just down the road in Glenwood, the Caddo River Festival returns September 4–5 with live music, a 5K & Fun Run, a car show, food, vendors and plenty of small-town Arkansas fun.

It’s one of those weekends that makes this corner of Arkansas so special: spend the day exploring, then come back to Peace Valley for the quiet.

Some places don’t show up on the tourist maps.

About a mile from Peace Valley, tucked into the woods, is a little swimming hole locals simply call “The Jacuzzi.”

Cold, clear water. A small cascade tumbling over the rocks. And the kind of place you probably wouldn’t know existed unless someone who lives here showed you the way.

It’s one of the things we love most about this corner of Arkansas — there’s always something beautiful hiding just beyond the obvious.

It doesn’t look like this quite yet.

But it will. 🍂

Soon the greens around Peace Valley will give way to amber, rust and gold. Mornings will get cooler. Evenings will call for an extra layer. And 74 acres of woods will start putting on their annual show.

Fall in the Ouachitas has a way of making you want to stay outside just a little longer.

About a mile from Peace Valley, tucked into the Ouachita landscape, is a quiet lake locals know for fishing — one of those places you’re more likely to hear about from a neighbor than find in a guidebook.

Take a walk beneath towering trees.

Follow the creek until you lose track of time.

Watch the light change across the meadow.

Sit beneath an old tree with nowhere you need to be.

With 74 private acres bordering the Ouachita National Forest, there isn’t an itinerary here.

Some childhood memories don’t begin with tickets or itineraries.

They begin with a bubble.

A wide-open meadow.

A swing beneath an old tree.

An afternoon with nowhere else to be.

We’ve learned that children don’t remember the square footage of a cabin.

They remember the places where they felt free.

If Peace Valley becomes part of those memories, we consider that the greatest compliment we could ever receive.
