Kinnikinnick Farm

Kinnikinnick Farm Pasture raised Poultry & Pork, Family Farm Stays in North Central Illinois It started out as a dream. Years and years ago. Just the two of us. And our family.

We wanted to leave the city and start a farm. Now, years later, we consider everyone in our farm circle part of our farm family. Employees. Neighbors, Customers. Farm Guests—especially the weekly, revolving, posse of kids who pull on their boots, jump onto the feed wagon, and help Farmer David with farm chores. Thank you all for being part of it...by visiting us here online, at our pickup locations,
or on the farm.

We knew the days would come. With sadness but gratitude for so many years of devotion, protection and joy we have to pass on the news. Lina and Teddy, our beautiful Tatras are both gone. 💔

Kinnikinnick Greenhouse. March

Our greenhouse doubles as a winter storage space for irrigation equipment and staff golf carts. They are out now and we have started to grow transplants. If you look closely, you can see the first few seedling flats that just came out of the germination chamber. Lettuces, onions, and Genovese basil. Coming up: more lettuces  and broccoli, peppers, tomatoes, cukes and zukes, eggplants, beets, and herbs. In a few weeks the benches will be packed and the greenhouse will feel and smell like eternal Spring. Look for our Spring Produce Box in early June.

Our Story

Kinnikinnick Farm is an established, certified, organic farm that sells produce directly to Chicago chefs and farmers market customers. The farm grows a wide variety of greens, heirloom tomatoes, root crops, and seasonal vegetables starting with asparagus and snap peas in the Spring and ending with butternut squash and sun-chokes in the Fall. We are particularly fond of Italian varieties. Many of our seeds come from small seed companies in Italy.
