In their nineties, my parents would sit in their ancient golf cart and watch the sun set over the cow pasture on their farm. "This is what heaven on earth looks like," my father would say.

For me, this photo is a small window into the deeper meaning of existence. Content to just be, they were not optimizing, monetizing, producing, performing, being visible, pursuing efficieny, measuring the benefits, or creating content.

They were taking time to quietly savor the world they loved and tended. At the age of 95, they had already lived through 34,675 sunsets and that old pasture was the daily backdrop of their lives, but they still found beauty, meaning, and even holiness in what was simple, familiar, and ordinary.

This picture is also what peace looks like.

We become what we pay attention to.

Homes need porches. We can learn from the past. This porch instantly brings your blood pressure down and begs for you to slow down….breathe. This is where you will find my guests most often.

The Cottage flower garden is starting to burst wide open with blooms and blossoms and the birds and pollinators are going crazy!

Coneflowers are just beautiful! The zinnia bed is ready to pop wide open this week. Old fashioned petunias and impatients and lilies are so full and pretty. The gladiolus are opening and there new colors this year from bulbs planted early spring. Miss Peggy is coming along with loads of new growth.

I’m a very happy and content little cottage gardener 😁.
