There’s so much to do in Napa Valley, but sometimes you just want to do nothing. Leave the phone on silent, let your out of office reply handle things, and just breathe for a few days. Some of the best trips start without a plan or itinerary, just finding restaurants and wineries on the fly, experiencing things you never would have expected.

The Japanese garden is the first view that greets guests at Okaeri, so it was designed to offer something unique and beautiful in every season. In the summer, the maples are vibrant green, just beginning to turn to orange and red. The bamboo sways and whispers in the warm breeze. Water striders dance across the surface of the pond while koi lazily drift and spiral below.

Picture it- you arrive at Okaeri after a long week. You ascend a walkway suspended above a Japanese garden, maples and bamboo whispering in the warm breeze. Nestled in the center of it is a pond home to seven lazily drifting koi, scales sparkling like jewels. The sound of the gently cascading water washes away your weariness, and you breathe a deep sigh of relaxation. Then you realize- this is only the beginning.

Say hello to the newest members of the Okaeri family! Our Japanese garden is now home to a school of butterfly koi. We were contacted by a family who was moving and couldn’t take their koi with them and wanted them to be well cared for. They’re settling in and excited to greet our guests!
