Cape Coral looked VERY different in the 1950s. ๐Ÿ‘€

Before the waterfront villas, marinas, restaurants, and miles of developed neighborhoods, much of the area was open land, marshes, and mangroves.
Development really began in 1957, when brothers Jack and Leonard Rosen purchased the land and started building what they called a โ€œWaterfront Wonderland.โ€

Canals were dug, roads were created, and in 1958 the first homes were built along Riverside and Flamingo Drives.

Fast-forward to today, and Cape Coral has become one of Floridaโ€™s most recognizable waterfront communities.

Raised at Bernice Braden Park on July 4, 2026, Floridaโ€™s tallest free-standing flagpole was made possible entirely through community support.
