Today is World Clean Up Day… and we’re doing some reflecting:
We’re a motel. Why do we care so dang much + put so much effort into seemingly non-hospitality activities? Welp, we’re glad you asked.
Because, we think, we have to - and so do you.
These photos are from our beach clean-up archive. Our very first one, on Earth Day 2024. 100 volunteers showed up… and since then? They haven’t stopped show up. The initiative to be pro-active in the stewarding the health of the very land that gives us a home, a sense of place, and contributes to the core memories of countless visitors - keeps growing.
We now are proud to partner with the and for our monthly clean ups… stoking city wide education, advocacy, and an opportunity for all to contribute.
This year, we had the honor of receiving the 2026 Partner Award from New Jersey Clean Communities Council. And while that recognition means the world to us… it was a bold reminder that this is who we are. We do not operate as separate from the land and sea that makes us who and what we are.
The work of “cleaning up” the world is enormous… daunting, even. But we operate from a shared principle that no matter how enormous or daunting the work, ot takes each of us (individuals, groups…. and businesses) to do their part (big or small) to make this place more healthy, vibrant, and vital earth for all.
Take one small action today. And then take another tomorrow.
Many small actions, big impact. Many hands, light work.
We have one final clean up for the season! Details in the comments below - it’s a special one.
