Aloha, Kana and I will be going back to Cambodia June and July. (we work with disadvantaged children there -- Hawaii International Hope Foundation.) If you were thinking of coming during that time frame, no problem -- we have a marvelous couple lined up to run things. Happy day, Kurt

STRANGE SIGHT FROM THE LANAI. I'd never seen anything like it before. Lots of afternoon rainbows here, but this was a percect orb of a rainbow about eight in the morning.

Okay, this is real. The man standing next to me is Captain James Cook. He stayed at our BnB (A Beautiful Edge of the World) in Captain Cook (Kona), Hawaii for three nights. By the way, I stole the name for our BnB from Cook's logs where he wrote "and now we sail into a bay at the known edge of the world". (I had to throw in a leading adjective because potential guests, apparently, were reluctant to stay because of the fear of possibly falling off.) The bay behind James' right shoulder is called Kealakekua, in Hawaiian language meaning "pathway of the gods" which usually becomes apparent at sunset.

People are starting to come back to the Edge. Several doing remote work from San Francisco. Still no Europeans but they will come when allowed. Having guests again reminded me of how much we enjoy doing what we do.

We're still empty at the Beautiful Edge of the World, six months now, but enjoying the quietude and increased family closeness. All things must pass.

We've given, are giving, a full refund to anyone that made a reservation for March, April and/or May. We're completely empty except for the dog, the cat and a few geckos. Enjoying family time enormously. Hope to see folks when the hard rain quits falling.

Kona, Beautiful Edge of the World--Fruit from the farm. Macnuts and coffee are my work (read income) crops, tropical fruits are my joy. These are some that we serve to our guests in the morning with breakfast-- white guava, papaya, starfruit, avocado, pineapple, atemoya, sapote blanco, and Tahitian lime are today's haul. Other days, other fruits. My challenge, to serve our guests something they've never had before. Fun stuff.

Besides the BnB, we grow coffee and nuts. Harvest time now. Macadamia nuts in the white bags.
