TRIATHLON ROAD CLOSURES - Sunday 9/27!

On Sunday, September 27th, triathletes will be racing through Captiva Island.

The course starts at Blind Pass with the bicycling portion of the triathlon at 6:45 am.

The running portion, the third leg of the triathlon, is contained within South Seas resort.

Captiva Drive will be closed from 6:45 am to 9:00 am.

South Seas Plantation Road, inside the gate at the Resort, will be closed from 6:45 am to approximately 10:30 am.

Please use caution during the race, and thank you for your understanding and support!

Sanibel and Captiva were recently named to the New York Times’ “52 Places to Go in 2026”. Our Islands are the only location in Florida to make the list alongside destinations in Iceland, Seychelles, and Brazil to name a few.

The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge has called Sanibel home since its establishment in 1945. Initially known as the Sanibel National Wildlife Refuge, its mission primarily focused on protecting migratory bird habitat. Over the years the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge Complex has expanded to include land over both Sanibel and Captiva with the purpose to preserve and protect wildlife habitat.
