Two weeks ago, in the middle of a massive storm, one of our guests called us in a panic and said the words every short-term rental owner hopes they’ll never hear…

“A tree just fell on our unit.”

Our hearts immediately sank.

By God’s grace, our guests were completely safe. That alone was the biggest miracle of the entire story.

We jumped in the car, drove the hour to Fern & Forest, got our guests settled into a hotel for the night, and began assessing the damage. Phone calls were made. Insurance was contacted. Tree crews were called. Cleanup began.

It was a whirlwind.

And yet... through every moment of it, there was a peace we can’t fully explain.

Not because the situation wasn’t serious.
Not because we weren’t overwhelmed.
But because we could see God’s hand in every detail.

The tree missed places it could have hit.
Our guests were protected.
The right people showed up when we needed them.
Every next step seemed to unfold exactly when it needed to.

This experience reminded us that peace isn’t the absence of chaos. Peace is the presence of God in the middle of it.

Sometimes God doesn’t stop the storm.

Sometimes He simply proves that He’ll be with you through it.

Over the next few days we’re going to share the journey—from the damage, to the cleanup, to the restoration—and all the ways we’ve seen God’s faithfulness along the way.
