There's something very calming about looking out over a tranquil lake, its surface as smooth as glass, reflecting the beautiful summer sky. The sounds of the splashing waves against the shore provide no better cure for insomnia. The serenity and peacefulness of the area is unmatched by any other. That, coupled with the laughter, love and fun displayed by the numerous family and friends that claim
the area as their beloved hide-away from the world, makes it the special place it is to me. The cool waters of the lake provide something everyone can enjoy. Whether it's the for older folks relaxing on the docks, getting their feet just wet enough to enjoy the refreshing temperature, or the young kids playing in the shallows with the small fish nipping at their feet as long as they can stand it. The people of my generation prefer the wilder side of the lake, with crashing waves and the promise of a turbulent ride of any kind. Nothing can match the exhilaration felt after a good tubing experience, wakeboarding or jet skiing in the wild conditions. Usually lunchtime is spent out on the unruffled side of the lake, taking in the sun and swimming until our arms and legs refuse to work properly. Afternoons are a time to do whatever anyone wants, some go sailing or continue with the crazy antics of the early day; others stay in-shore and engage in a friendly competition of water volleyball. Though once it nears sunset, everyone quickly clears what they were doing and finds a prime spot to watch the sun throw its beautiful rays of red, yellow, blue and purple across the lakes‚ rippling surface. Slowly the sun fades and the lake also begins to settle for the night; people head for their cottages and prepare for the hours of fun to come; relaxing to get some energy back spending the night by a cozy campfire roasting marshmallows. An entire summer can be spent at the Lake without boredom ever sneaking up. I will never tire of the wonderful feeling I get just being there. Being at the lake is the best prescription for fun and stress relief there is. With the soothing waters, beautiful days and endless activities to occupy time, it doesn't get much better than that.
