Acts 20:35
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
The apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of helping the weak and vulnerable, rather than seeking personal gain. Paul in this verse is speaking to the church of Ephesus when he quotes Jesus by saying: “'It is more blessed to give than to receive.” When Jesus says our giving is more blessed, He's telling us that there is more happiness or joy to be found in God when we give, rather than when we receive. There are spiritual, emotional, and communal benefits that come with giving. Those who give generously often find themselves enriched with a deeper sense of purpose, connection, and well-being.
Dear Heavenly Father, Provider and Dispenser of all our needs and yearnings, on this bountiful earth, which you created and replenished. I give You thanks and honor for You never lack, You are more than enough. You are the great source of everything and You never run dry. You give even before we ask. Father in heaven, You are blessed because You have given the greatest gift which is our Lord Jesus Christ who gave His precious life to save me and many who believe and put their faith in Him. Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit who guides and teaches us about our Lord Jesus Christ so we can live free from sin and be righteous in Christ. Lord, help us to be a generous and joyful giver so we can bless Your name and give You glory. In Jesus my Lord and Savior. Amen!
