What a fabulous season. It certainly was not without it's challenges. But then nothing worthwhile is.

It's been our sincere pleasure to get you to trail, serve you breakfast and do our best to get you started on the right (or left) foot for an adventure of a lifetime.

Some of you, we expect we will see you next season (you know who you areπŸ˜‰πŸ˜), as we begin our 6th season of hikers helping hikers.

As always, Safe Travels!
Hope to see you in August at the PCT Trail Days. We'll be there with the 2026 banner.

As of 9am on May 31, the water cache currently maintained by Pete (who graciously took over for Papa Bear) will be removed.

We encourage those of you who still intend to trek NOBO from the PCT Southern Terminus, to fully hydrate, hike at the "bookends" of the day, and carry an appropriate amount of water to get yourself to Lake Morena, especially with the coming heat of summer.

April 15-20, 2026
Oh what a truly beautiful sight.
Nothing like the energy at CLEEF as the Class of 2026 takes their first steps on the PCT.

It feels like yesterday we were standing at the PCT Southern Terminus with pristine gear loaded down for a 20-mile waterless carry, and waaay too much food..πŸ˜†

Sending this week's starters much trail love and vibes for a fantastic adventure on the PCT.

As we say often, this trail will "ruin" your lives...in a good way!

The "residents" at CLEEF are getting fat, but we imagine all you March starters are marching into "hiker hunger" about now.

Even though Papa Bear had to leave for home early this season, campers at CLEEF will still get more than their fill of "Papa Bear" pancakes till the morning of May 30th, then it's time for us to pack up and head for home as well. We got some hiking to do too!

April 11-15,2026: Many of you have dreamed of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail for years. This week the dreaming stopped and the walking started.

It's SOMEDAY!

By now you probably
- Have permanent sock tans
- A few blisters
- Eaten your weight in Snickers

Embrace the suck. It only gets better!

Safe Travels!

April 6-10,2026: Famous Trail Angels, Scout and Frodo filled in for us for a week, teaching some great "trail skills" (like line dancing) and sharing some amazing stories. We appreciate their continued support and connection with the PCT trail community, as they send off this week's batch of PCT hikers.

By now you're all seasoned and prepping for the Sierra, and you've had another opportunity to recharge your soul with "showers" by Honey, and her much needed pets...😁.

For what it's worth, it only gets better and better from now on.

Safe Travels!

There is a clear and present "battle" brewing between Durston and Big Agnes. We will see how it progresses as May has now turned to proper March weather. It appears the weather for the 2026 hiking season has inverted.

Not gonna lie, our money is on Big Agnes for the wind...We mean win. Nothing like 70mph winds and a "leaning" free standing tent. But that's just us.

Prove us wrong!

The water cache at MILE 14, that has been maintained by Papa Bear for the bulk of the 2026 NOBO season will NO LONGER BE THERE. Due to unforseen circumstances, Papa Bear has to head home early, and therefore will NOT be available to maintain the water cache at Mile 14. This means you have a 20 Mile water carry to Lake Morena, to start their PCT.

We strongly recommend one carries a minimum of 7 liters to get to Lake Morena, especially if you plan on dry camping (mraning, you don't make 20 miles for the day) AND that you hike at the "bookends " of the day to avoid the mid-day heat.

We wish Papa Bear all the best, and expect to see his smiling face and signature pancakes next season.

* Don't worry we will still be serving pancakes at CLEEF till the end of the NOBO season, however they just won't be "Papa Bear" pancakes, but we will do our best.

05/03/2026

IMPORTANT NOTICE!
As of May 4th, the water cache at Mile 14, will NO longer exist. Due to unforseen circumstances, Papa Bear, who has maintained this cache has had to leave CLEEF and head home early this season. Therefore the water cache will be removed by noon on May 4th.

This means the first 20 mile stretch of the PCT will be DRY!

We STRONGLY suggest a minimum 7 liter water carry, especially if you will need to dry camp before Lake Morena, and that you hike at the "bookends" of the day to avoid the coming heat.

CDF has reported an average of TWO rescues per week for a heat related emergency by and/or before mile 10. This means that some people are NOT starting their hike fully hydrated.
