Howard’s hip replacement surgery was scheduled in mid-October, when he finally admitted it was time to get it done, when the pain was too much, not allowing for rest or sleep. Everything was a “go” until surgery was cancelled two days before the procedure. His blood sugar levels were too high.
Swallowing down the disappointment, Howard went for another Cortisone shot and was rescheduled for surgery on January 28th, 2026. Being diligent with his diet, his sugar levels went down and surgery went ahead as planned. He finally received his brand new hip. Hip, hip, hooray!!!
I want to take this opportunity to thank so many of our friends and family members for your encouragement, and keeping this man in your prayers. Our good friend, Joe, plowed the driveway and shoveled the front walkway to the front door for Howard's homecoming that same day. Our local daughters, Rebecca and Heidi helped with 4 out of the 5 dogs at home, and dinner that evening. The text messages, and email messages continued throughout the day, and brought such joy to our hearts.
I can't write enough about our wonderful experience at SOS Outpatient Surgery Center in North Syracuse, NY. Our surgeon, Dr. Clarke is the best, and the entire staff were professional and friendly. They even allowed me to bring our "comfort" dog, Tutu, to the facility and be with Howard in recovery. (It's acutally the other way around: we are her comfort parents!)
Here are a few photos from the day, and I couldn't not include Howard wearing my nightgown! It's an ease and comfort thing!
Please continue to keep this man in your prayers as he attends his physical therapy sessions and continues to heal. He is working hard in order to dance with our daughter at her upcoming wedding in May!
