Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower - Albert Camus

Fall is here at Bryce Canyon. Days are getting shorter and nights longer and colder. Soon many nights will be below freezing. Please keep the weather in mind if you plan to visit us this season, bring layers and keep drinking plenty of water.
Starting September 27, 2020, the Visitor center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for its fall hours.

Shuttle Schedule Update:

As we shift from summer into fall, temperatures will begin to cool and the days will continue to get shorter. With sunset coming earlier and earlier, the timing on our shuttle services will shift as well.

Beginning tomorrow, September 28, there will be two major changes:

1) The afternoon walk-up tickets will now be available from 3pm - 5pm, changed from 3pm - 6pm. These first-come, first-serve tickets are held for visitors who have been otherwise unable to secure shuttle tickets in advance. The number of available tickets will be somewhat less than the current amount.

2) The last shuttle returning from the Temple of Sinawava to the Zion Canyon Visitor Center will leave at 7:15 pm, an hour earlier than has been the case for the past few months. It is a good idea to plan to be out before the last shuttle each day, as seating on shuttles is a greatly reduced and standing is not permitted.

Shuttle tickets may be purchased through the recreation.gov website.

The West Rim Trail will be closed today, August 18th, at Refrigerator Canyon.

Our trail crew will be working on some repair projects along this section of trail, and the closure is to ensure the safety of visitors. The potential for tumbling rocks would create an otherwise hazardous environment for hikers.

The West Rim Trail, originally completed in the early 1920s, includes a noteworthy section of short, steep switchbacks on the way to Scout Lookout from Refrigerator Canyon. These switchbacks are known as "Walter's Wiggles," and are named after Walter Reusch, the first manager of Zion National Park. This particular section of trail was repaved with concrete in 1985 to better withstand erosion and the increasing number of visitors.

Thank you for your patience while we work to preserve some of the most iconic trails in this national park!

Planning to visit Zion in early September? Don't forget to reserve your shuttle tickets!

Zion Canyon Shuttle ticket sales will be available on recreation.gov for the *first half* of September starting tomorrow morning at 9 am. This is a bit of a change from how things worked this time last month.

Whereas all of the dates in August were available for reservation on the 16th of July, these advance sales will only be available for September 1st through the 15th. There will be an additional batch of advance ticket sales for the remainder of September (16th - 30th) on August 31st.

The daily ticket sales will continue unchanged. Some shuttle tickets will be made available on the recreation.gov website each morning for the next day at 9 am MDT. So, for example, if you're going to be here on a Saturday and missed the advance sales, then you'll be able to purchase Saturday tickets on Friday morning.

Tickets are required for boarding the Zion Canyon Shuttles, and they sell out quickly. Plan accordingly!
