Want to see how successful parks operate behind the scenes?

Takeaway Tours are back at OHCE®2026 and they're returning as one of the most requested add-on experiences.

One of this year's featured tour destinations is The Vineyards Campground & Cabins where attendees can expect an up-close look at operations, guest experience, amenities, retail, programming, and more. It's a chance to ask questions, learn from fellow operators, and bring home practical "takeaways" for your own park.

Taking place on Thursday, November 12, transportation and lunch are included, making this a valuable half-day of behind-the-scenes access.

“I’m thrilled to share everything happening at The Vineyards Campground & Cabins in Grapevine! From our refreshing swim beach and kid favorite playground to our spacious, beautifully maintained sites right on the lake, there’s something here for every kind of camper,” said Morgan Denny, Lake Parks Manager. “It’s the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable moments. I can’t wait for more people to experience it!”

Register for OHCE® today while Early Bird pricing is still available through June 30 and reserve your spot before tours reach capacity at ohi.org/ohce.

We're continuing our spotlight series on the OHI Board of Directors who show up for this industry and for you. This week we're featuring Cathy Reinard, owner of Catskill Mountains / Gilboa KOA Holiday.

SUPPORTIVE.

That's the one word Cathy wants every OHI member to feel when they think of their association.

Her story starts around a campfire in the mid-90s. Sitting there, she had a simple thought: "I could do this." It took a few years to find the right opportunity, but once she did, she jumped in. Cathy will tell you she didn't know what she didn't know back then, but she learned quickly. Her first campground became part of the Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park system, and she's now on park number four. Long before flipping businesses became trendy, Cathy was buying parks, improving them, and moving on to the next challenge.

These days, she's most proud of helping families create memories that last long after their camping trip ends. She originally purchased her current park with dreams of enjoying it alongside her grandchildren, and today she balances campground ownership with her work as a broker for Campground Brokers of America.

Ask Cathy about one thing she'll never operate without again, and her answer comes quickly: reliable communication. After experiencing a situation that required a medical helicopter landing on the property, she became even more committed to strong communication systems and regularly practiced emergency procedures.

Her reason for serving on the OHI Board is rooted in gratitude. Throughout her career, mentors generously shared their knowledge and helped her navigate an industry that is constantly evolving. Serving is her way of giving back and helping ensure future campground owners have that same support.

And if she could wave a magic wand? She'd reduce the growing number of regulations park owners face every day.

When board decisions are on the table, Cathy comes back to one question: Does this benefit all our members?

Cathy, we're lucky to have you at the table.

Pets=Profits

It's simple math.

Pet owners are camping. A lot. More than half of RV owners travel with their animals. That is not a small number. And the demographic bringing all those pets along are largely millennials and Gen Z, who make up the fastest growing segment of new campers and also happen to be the largest pet-owning g...

You’ve met the OHI ExCom, the leaders guiding the direction of the Board. Now we’d like to re-introduce you to your other elected leaders: the OHI Board of Directors. Over the next several weeks we're spotlighting the board members who show up for this industry and for you. First up: Robert Bouse, from Travel Resorts of America. His title? "It's My Fault." We'll let him explain.

NECESSARY.

That's the one word Robert wants every OHI member to feel when they think of their association.

Robert's origin story starts in Mexico. He was surfing there when a friend left a message on his answering machine that Thousand Trails was opening parks in Texas and needed managers. He came home, made the call, and never looked back. What kept him? The freedom to move around the country, the chance to help people create memories, and the thrill of building teams. He'll also tell you that no two days in a campground are ever the same, and for Robert, that's the best part.

He's quick to say he's made more mistakes in this industry than anyone else. And he means it as a point of pride. Every mistake made him a better leader and a better decision maker, and along the way, some of the best people in the business didn't hesitate to show up with advice, no strings attached. That kind of generosity stayed with him. In 2024 it was recognized when he received the OHI Pioneer Award, his proudest single moment in the industry.

His why for serving on the board is simple: to give back the way those mentors gave to him.

And if he could wave a magic wand? He'd get more park owners out of the daily grind and into the bigger picture, spending time working on their business, not just in it.

Every board decision Robert makes comes back to one question: how does this impact the average campground manager and owner?

Robert, we're lucky to have you at the table.
