Say hello to your OHI ExCom! We've introduced you to Kitty, Rafael, Jim, Bert, and Barb, and to round out the series is Jeff Hoffman, Owner of Sandusky KOA Holiday and President of Camp Strategy.

PRIDE.

That's the one word Jeff wants every OHI member to feel when they think of their association.

Jeff's story starts the way the best ones do, as a kid. He grew up in this industry, hauling ice and wood, cutting grass, cleaning bathrooms. He liked it. He kept coming back summers through high school and college, and when he graduated with his accounting degree and CPA, he was asked to join MHD Corp. He said yes and spent the next 40-plus years developing, buying, and managing RV parks, mobile home parks, apartments, and retail properties across the country.

When ownership made the decision to divest all properties between 2018 and 2021, Jeff could have walked away. He retired, briefly. Then he launched Camp Strategy Consulting, because stepping away from the RV park and campground industry wasn't something he wanted to do. He loves it too much.

Today he runs Sandusky KOA alongside his consulting work, and what he's most proud of right now is an operational shift, converting to a new management system built on the EOS and Rockefeller operating frameworks. For someone who built a career on numbers, getting the systems right is important.

And the one thing he'd never run a park without again? The best property management systems available. He'll tell you straight, he really likes data.

His magic wand wish is one that comes from the heart of someone who has seen it all. He'd give every park owner the knowledge to run their operation correctly because better operations mean better profitability, and better profitability means less day to day stress about money.

Every ExCom decision Jeff makes comes back to one question: is this in the best interest of our membership?

This is who's in your corner.

Building a playground? Build it bigger with the Healthy Kids Initiative!

Communities across Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and New Jersey can now access up to $15 million in funding for new playground projects through the 2026 Healthy Kids Initiative, a program offered by Play & Park Structures in partnership with Commercial Recreation Specialists (CRS).

The program is designed to help park districts, schools, and community organizations secure additional funding, addressing one of the most common barriers to moving playground projects forward.

Say hello to your OHI ExCom! Next up is Barb Krumm, Director of Marketing & Public Relations at Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

ENCOURAGED.

That's the one word she wants every OHI member to feel when they think of their association.

In 1998, she left a marketing and PR role at a nonprofit arts organization to join Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She never planned to stay at one place this long. Twenty-eight years later, she's still in awe of it.

"I've stayed because of the people: the founding family, my teammates, our guests, and my industry peeps. I'm continually inspired by their stories, and I learn so much from each one."

What she's most proud of right now is the heart and passion that the Ocean Lakes team and its guests pour into that place every single day. Some days it feels overwhelming, she'll admit. But they push through for the families who make memories there. She's deeply passionate about family businesses in America and what they mean to the people around them.

The one thing she'd never run a park without again? Faith and prayer. She's learned that you simply cannot do it all alone. and when things go sideways, she looks beyond her own strength. Dark chocolate helps too.

Her reason for joining ExCom is rooted in her art school background, she majored in advertising and photo design, and she thinks in lenses. "Serving on the national board gives me a wide-angle lens, and serving on ExCom gives me the macro lens, for detail and impact." Changing lenses, she says, allows you to adapt, to adjust your focus, and to see what others might miss.

And if she could wave a magic wand? She'd clear the political and governmental hurdles: the regulations, laws, and codes that slow operators down before they ever get started.

Every ExCom decision she makes comes back to one question: how will this help our members, and what is the downside, if any?

This is who's in your corner.

Say hello to your OHI ExCom! Next up is Bert Davis, Owner and GM of DELLS CAMPING RESORT.

COMMUNITY.

That's the one word Bert wants every OHI member to feel when they think of their association.

Bert's path into outdoor hospitality started in college. He took a job in the industry and something clicked: working outside, spending his days around people who were happy to be there, and the chance to build a good life. He never left.

Over the last seven years, Bert and his team have grown Dells Camping Resort from a small customer base with barely enough income to keep the lights on into a thriving, profitable business that is still growing. That kind of transformation doesn't just happen and it's what he's most proud of.

"To give back to the industry" is why he shows up for ExCom. Simple as that.

The one thing he'd never run a park without again? A great accountant. And if he could wave a magic wand and fix one challenge for park owners right now, he'd tackle insurance, and he's not the first ExCom member to say so.

Every ExCom decision Bert makes comes back to one question: how does this move the industry forward positively for the membership.

This is who's in your corner.
