Ok, Mother Nature. I think you have your months mixed up. This is May (you know, spring flowers). Thanks for the moisture, though!

We have about 18 inches, and it's still falling!

You may have noticed that I posted yesterday: our season began yesterday. So if you are wondering about our guests, everyone is doing well and taking it all in stride. The CA people who never see snow are getting an immersion!

Our season is officially underway!!

What do you do when Mama is on the other side?

Before branding, we tried to find all the cows and calves in this thick brush along the river, move them out, and closer to a pen where we could corral them. Fortunately for me (I happened to be on foot at the moment--that's another long story), this babe crossed the river to the correct side to come to mama.

‼️ Attention! We need a name! Here's the story. This mare was purchased at a sale as a 3-year-old with light riding. We knew nothing about her but she was nice and big and seemed to have a good disposition (there's a 50-50 chance of that being true of a sale horse!) Anyway, we got her back to the ranch and have worked off and on with her. We called her baby horse because she was just that--a baby. Apparently, she has had to earn her name--and she is deserving of a permanent name now! She has quickly earned her way to the favorites list. She will not be a guest horse for a while, but she did fantastic at her first branding last weekend. We are working on giving her all types of experiences and exposure to many new things so that she continues to learn how to handle new situations. So cast your vote. Will her name be Stormy or Timber??
