high country of northern New Mexico. And create some legends of your own. The 32,000 acre ranch was purchased in 1950 by Grady and Jack Vaughn of Dallas, Texas. Grady and Jack were Texas oilmen who made it big. Grady Vaughn commissioned a search for the perfect ranch for hunting and fishing and ultimately selected and bought the ranch in 1950. In 1971, Grady H. Vaughn III (son
of Grady and nephew of Jack) began construction of a 10,850 square foot luxury lodge on the ranch which was completed in June of 1972 and so began a story of entertaining elite sportsmen and women from all over the world. The ranch boasts one of the world's largest private elk herds which consisted of Yellowstone elk imported beginning in 1952, 1954 and continued in the '60's. The ranch affords discriminating sportsmen and women with high quality big game hunts for elk, mule deer, bison and bear and also has a world class fisheries offering trophy class rainbow, brook, brown and cutthroat trout. Historically, the ranch has had its own cattle, commercial timber and farming operations in addition to its commercial guest services division. The ranch added 16,000 square feet of additional space to the existing lodge greatly expanding business opportunities in the highest quality ways. Corporate conference facilities were added, world class common areas, dining areas and another 10 guest rooms.
