Charles City Elks were proud to be involved with the Charles City Dollars for Scholars organization as they made awards to CCHS seniors.

May starts off strong at the Lodge! We have a special Cinco de Mayo meal Tuesday, a Board Meeting and Lodge Meeting Wednesday, our usual Thursday meal, and the graduation season starts for us on Saturday. Whew!

Our thanks go out to the “Fabulous Five” who unselfishly gave part of their Saturday morning to clean up a 2-mile stretch of Underwood Avenue east of Charles City. Steve Mills, Sally Mills, Deb Carolan, Sean Schweinfurth, and Rick McDonald showed us what good Elks can do to help make this a great place to live. Their efforts are noticed and appreciated by all of us!

(Interesting fact: Mildred Kruse was the first female to join the Charles City Lodge in 1996. She was 85 years of age when she was initiated!)

This week features our famous flat iron steak dinner (make your reservations by Wednesday noon), a teacher retirement open house, and our spring adopt-a-highway event. Just another week of Elks being awesome!

Charles City Lodge #418 had another great showing at the 2026 Spring Convention of the Iowa Elks Association this past weekend.

Our Lodge was honored to be recognized as the Northeast District Lodge of the year. We were even MORE honored to be recognized as the STATE Lodge of the year for the 2026-27 Lodge year. Our Lodge officers, committee members and Lodge members should be thanked for stepping up and participating in so many of the State Association programs.

No big meetings at the Lodge this week, although many of our officers and members will be traveling to Des Moines for the Spring Convention of the Iowa Elks Association this weekend. We wish them safe travels!

With the Charitable Trust Annual meeting and Board Meeting, a Lodge Meeting and Prom on Saturday, it looks like another great week at the Elks. Come visit us!
