We love our returning guests just as much as we love meeting new guests. McGrady Inn gives a good "home away from home" kinda feel.
"Beautiful location, good price
I have stayed at the McGrady Inn about a half dozen times. I went to college at Eastern Illinois University, and still have friends in Charleston, Illinois, so I stay at the Inn when I visit them. It's hard to describe just how lovely this place is, and how nice and helpful the owners Karen and Adam are. The location is great-- about a five minute walk to the town square, and about a ten minute walk to the campus, and the price is not much more than a motel would cost me. I always look forward to my stays there."

"Beautiful, Relaxing, Cozy!
Absolutely gorgeous! The pictures do not do it justice. This bed and breakfast is very unique! Formerly a church, now a small, quiet, beautiful bed and breakfast. The woodworking is magnificent. It's fun to imagine how the church was laid out and see how it has been adapted to a wonderful place to stay. The decor throughout compliments the majestic building. A continental breakfast is self-serve with items left in the kitchen for you to help yourself. The rooms are immaculate. There is a balcony to sit outside and relax. It was enjoyable to read about the history and see some of the renovation pictures. Great hosts! Definitely recommend!"

What a great review!!

"Highly recommend this charming Inn
My husband and I stayed overnight at this lovely inn in a historic church. We were greeted by Karen the host, and instantly felt welcome. The setting is unique and very tastefully decorated. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Although a simple breakfast was available, we chose to walk the short distance to the town square for a larger meal at the South Side Cafe and do some shopping. We highly recommend McGrady Inn, although there are a couple of things to note. If steps are an issue, you might want to discuss this with the host prior to booking. As someone else mentioned, the vaulted ceilings echo conversations. So if you want complete seclusion or if your party will be boisterous, this might not be the place to stay. During our trip other guests were respectful and quiet so it posed no issues and we slept well in the very comfortable bed. If we return to the Charleston area, this will be our first choice of where to stay."

Love the fact that our little Inn may change the way people decide on lodging for their next trip. Possibly opening their adventure to something other than the big box hotels.

"I had never stayed at a B&B place before McGrady Inn. The recent experience was a totally pleasant one.

I was impressed by the church-converted building with tall ceilings and spacious rooms. The place had all the amenities I expected from a full-fledged hotel only with added intimacy.

The owners Karen and Adam extended warm welcome and detailed attention to all their guests at the Inn. I felt I was right at home.

We had a busy weekend at the Inn and meet some super nice people. Here is another great review from one of our guests:

"My husband found this B&B online when he was searching for a place to stay close to EIU. It's definitely in walking distance, but we chose to drive to the campus. Once he read that it was a former church converted into an Inn, he knew that's where he wanted to stay. We booked the room online and looked forward to staying there. Karen was an amazing host. She contacted us the day before to confirm our arrival time and greeted us with a warm smile and even offered to help with our bags!! She checked us in and shared the ins and outs of the inn and even shared her restaurant recommendations for the town. We appreciated the kitchen ammenities - water, juice, breakfast items and coffee! Awesome service for sure. Should there ever be a need for us to stay in Charleston again, we will stay here! We highly recommend this inn for your next stay."

We know the day is going to be great when we wake up to an amazing review like this:

"The McGrady Inn is a gem of a Bed & Breakfast venue. It is a repurposed century-old church building near downtown Charleston Il. The renovation done to convert the building to its present use is flawless. Many original features of the former worship space - have been lovingly preserved so that the overall experience honors the building's original purpose. The former worship area is now an awesome great room for relaxing, having a continental breakfast or to just soak in all the wonderful details of the interior space. Our gracious and friendly host and co-owner, Karen, met us at the door, explained a few details, showed us to our comfortable room - one of only five total rooms - and we then had the entire place to ourselves as we were the only guests for our one-night stay. Our room was nicely appointed: a comfortable queen bed, large closet, flat screen TV, desk, and a spacious bathroom. The only caveat I have for future guests here is that you need to be able to navigate stairs to get to the main floor and additional stairs to the 2nd floor, where 3 of the 5 rooms are located. Communications with the host, Karen, were very timely and use"

It's been awhile since I've posed a review. I have several to post.😁 We have been blessed with so many amazing guests.

"A fabulous church turned into an Inn.
This place was absolutely amazing! From being greeted when we arrived by Karen, to the beautiful decor, to the comfy bed, everything was fantastic! There was a beautiful upstairs balcony where you could sit and watch TV or a nook where you could read a book. Downstairs there were all sorts of board games, as well as a small library. This was a very homey, peaceful place. (There are lots of stairs and no elevator, so keep that in mind.)"

“I was travelling for business. The check-in process was quick and easy to follow. The room was clean and spacious. The interior of the building is beautiful and unique. I wanted to stay at a unique place that was convenient and this was exactly what I was looking for. I would recommend the stay to anyone travelling for business or personal reasons. Downtown businesses are just a short walk away.”
