From 1976 to the Next Chapter: Maxson's Story of Adaptation
As Bill Maxson transitions into retirement, Maxson Associates is taking a moment to look back at where the company started and what will guide us forward.
In a conversation with Trevor Maxson, Bill reflects on a story that began in 1976, when E.W. Maxson founded the company with three employees in a 1,200-square-foot office.
The early business was built around new construction. After the 1982 recession, Maxson expanded into service work, a decision that helped the team adapt through future downturns and changing customer needs.
Over the decades, the company also evolved with the market, moving from a heavier focus on traditional rolling steel doors toward solutions that support how people use buildings today, including operable partitions and life safety products.
Those challenges helped shape the values we continue to carry: Own It, Take Charge, Never Give Up, Customer Focused, and Commit to Excellence.
Bill's parting guidance is as personal as it is practical: treat employees as if they are your own family. Thank you, Bill, for decades of leadership, care, and resolve. As Maxson enters its next chapter, we do it with gratitude for the foundation you helped build.
