LITTLE GIANT FIRE UPDATE
We are glad to report that the evacuation level at the Holden Village B&B has decreased.
The B&B evacuated August 1 in response to the Little Giant Fire. After significant efforts from Fire personnel in the area, the fire is now 10% contained and the area along South Lakeshore Road has been downgraded to Level 1. The fire continues to hold along the northeast edge near Deep Harbor, with no imminent threat to Holden Village.
With the risk level decreased, people will again be able to book reservations at the B&B. Caretaker Roberta will also soon be returning to her home on Lakeshore drive. However, AQI levels near the B&B remain high. A photo taken today shows significant haze in the area. Another photo looking north toward 25 Mile Creek shows a burn scar on the hills above the lake showing how close the fire came.
The Little Giant Fire has now burned 137-thousand acres. We’re thankful for nearly 3,000 people who are currently responding to this fire. We’re also thankful for the messages of support and prayers from the Holden Community. The B&B is a special place for so much of the Holden community and it fills our hearts with gladness to imagine it continuing to welcome travelers for years to come.
