Here is looking up at Stormy this morning. You can see some smoke on the back side of Stormy and the Devils Backbone area. There is a pocket in this area that did not burn that they are watching. But overall, everything is looking real good.

Sept. 2nd, 2026 - There is really nothing new to report. The fire continues to be held on the lines between First Creek and the Entiat Valley. Buckets were again flying yesterday. Things looked good up in the Stormy Mt. area yesterday evening. We will see what today's weather brings us. Hopefully some showers to settle things down even more.

September 1st, 2026.

I must say that I am glad to see August behind us. Even though we were well prepared should the fire reach us, and it really did not get that close, it has been a month from hell business wise. The ups and downs emotionally. It really has been a tough month. But as of today, it is behind us. That is a good thing. We start with a new month as of today.

Things continue to look very good in our area. We will continue to see some smoke here and there on different days depending on air movement but I do feel that the worst is over. The fire is 49% contained and it may never be fully contained as there are areas to the north that they will not be able to contain until weather fully ends the fire. But 49% is good and that should continue to go up.

As you can see, the Lake Chelan South Shore is no longer under level 1. Not that it is a huge deal as Level 1 only means that you are to be aware of a fire in the area, but even Level 1 scares a lot of people.

Evacuation levels were reduced today in all three areas affected by the Little Giant Fire. Additional reductions to Level 3 evacuation areas are expected in the coming days as fire conditions continue to improve and containment increases.

The above photo is only a still image for reference; monitor the live incident map for the most current evacuation information:

The Little Giant Fire is now at 170,783 acres. It is 49% contained.
The South Shore is no longer at a level 1.

As seen on the map below, there are still places producing heat which will most likely continue but if you look back a week or two, things are looking much better.

Buckets were working on the fire in the Stormy Mt. - Devils Backbone area yesterday.

Air quality yesterday was good. Below 100 and mostly in the 50's area.

What a beautiful afternoon on Lake Chelan it is.

Monday Morning.

As you can see, things look great up First Creek and on the line between Stormy and Baldy Mt's. With the weather we are having, I do feel that the fire threat for us from these areas are over. Not that there will not be any smoke and haze. That could continue but we have had air quality ranging from below 100 up into the mid 100's the last couple days.

I am sure they will continue to do some smaller burn out operations here and there for a spell but things on this end of the fire are looking real good.

Not much new to report. Things are still looking good from what I could see. A couple small columns of smoke on Stormy Mt. tonight but nothing to concerning. We will see what things look like in the morning.
