Public Land Hunting Attractions Nearby for Whitetail:
Kansas Public Land Hunting Whitetail at Byron Walker Wildlife Area.
Approximately 30 miles west of the lodge, hunters can take advantage of public land hunting opportunities at the Byron Walker Wildlife Area.
The Byron Walker Wildlife area has opportunities for whitetail, turkey, quail, pheasant, dove, and waterfowl hunting.
Whitetail deer roam in abundance pretty much all over Bryon Walker Wildlife Area.
Researching areas that might be harder to access and pack in can help to reach areas with lower hunting pressure.
Hunters can sight bows in and practice archery shooting at the archery range at area headquarters during the day.
Stands need to be portable and taken out when not in use. Off-road vehicle use and baiting is prohibited.
Deer Hunting Area is Unit 15 for the draw.
Deer hunting for non-residents is by draw, hunters can apply individual or by a group, application period begins 1 April through 24 April. Apply Early,
Hunters will also need to purchase a hunting license and have your hunter safety card.
When applying you will apply with the unit number and the season, example archery, you will also be asked to put an additional unit side unit number so for example, you are trying for unit 15, you will put that and then an additional side unit. Archery season for 2020 runs Sept 14- Dec 31.
You need your non-resident hunting license which runs around 100, and then your non-resident deer tag which runs around 450.
