A Little Tip Before Your Drive Up 🏔️

One of our favorite things about The Lazy Laurel is just how tucked-away our little corner of Cherry Log is. The roads up here in the greater Blue Ridge area can climb and wind a bit (that's mountains for you!). Some of the best hikes and destinations in the area sit at the end of narrow or gravel roads. We promise it's worth it.

That little bit of mountain road is exactly what keeps this corner of North Georgia so quiet, green, and uncrowded. If you're not used to mountain driving, just roll the windows down, take it at your own pace, and enjoy the views on the way in. The drive is the first part of the adventure!

Can't wait to have you. The porch (and the view) will be waiting!🌲🌲

Our first bear sighting of the year, and she apparently doesn't like our landscaping. This looks a lot like the big girl we would see on camera last year. Neither we nor any guests we know of have seen her in person — she tends to come around about 3AM when no one is visiting the cabin. This is her neighborhood, not ours 😄

The National Weather Service in National Weather Service Peachtree City has issued a Red Flag Warning for most of North and Central Georgia, including our area.

🕛 Timing: Today from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM

⚠️ Conditions:
• Relative Humidity: Low to mid 20% range
• Winds: 10–18 mph with gusts up to 30 mph
• Higher elevations may see gusts up to 40 mph
• Ongoing drought conditions

🔥 What This Means:
These conditions create EXTREMELY DANGEROUS fire behavior. Fires can start easily and spread rapidly, becoming uncontrollable in a matter of minutes.

🚫 NO OUTDOOR BURNING
Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged today. Even small fires, including campfires and debris burning, can quickly get out of control.

⚠️ Important Reminder for Residents & Visitors:
• Avoid any activity that could spark a fire
• Properly discard ci******es
• Do not park vehicles on dry grass
• Use extreme caution with equipment that produces heat or sparks

Please consider restricting fire pits and campfires during this warning period. The risk far outweighs the benefit.

Be on the lookout for our neighborhood deer during your stay. They show up almost every morning and evening and cross either through the front yard or below the fire pit.
