Downeast Wilderness Experience Downeast Wilderness Experience operates remote campgrounds on three pristine lakes in Downeast Maine.

Upper Cranberry Lake, Lower Sabao Lake, and Deer lake campgrounds offer famly camping like it used to be. Peaceful, quiet, forest settings offering fishing, canoe/kayaking, swimming, hiking, hunting, ATV and mountain bike riding on over 800 miles of approved trails. Choose a site just feet from the beach, or tucked back under the trees. All three campsites are accessible via maintained dirt roads, and we can accomodate large campers.

I have complained for the last few years after moving back to Cherryfield the intense number of ticks in our field, lawn and gardens is unbelievable. Every year while handling truckloads of debris from the campgrounds north of Rt 9 I have never seen a tick. I have always contributed it due to 80% of the cleanup is pine needles. I finally remembered to look it up. I’m planting pine trees on my lawn..
