There’s something truly majestic about bald eagles — the symbol of strength, freedom, and wild beauty. How incredible is nature??? 🌿🐣
Liberty has been nesting there for years, successfully raising more than two dozen eaglets — right in the heart of Redding! 🐣
Did anyone else watch the Eagle Cam last season?
Update on our Redding Eagles 10/10/25:
Let the 2025-2026 Redding Eagle Season Begin!!!
Guardian is in the House!!!
Well, maybe not "in the house", but Guardian has been spotted in the Turtle Bay area this week! Mike shared a few of his gorgeous photos of Guardian perched on the Family Tree & on Liberty's Island from a few days ago. Guardian looks very healthy & is already keeping watch over their nesting territory. I always love when the eagles come back after their summer break with their feathers looking so crisp & clean. The white feathers especially look stunning at this time of year!
Liberty has not been spotted in the Turtle Bay area quite yet, but that is typical for her to arrive after Guardian. She was recently spotted up at their Summer Retreat Spot last Sunday so she may still be hanging out up there in the peace & quiet for a bit longer. I don't blame her one bit for that! I love it up there, too! We will keep you posted when we see her!
Our Project Mgr Joe & Eaglecam Technician Jim are working hard on finishing touches to dial in all of the settings for our Redding Eaglecam so we can start streaming LIVE 24/7 and all of you can watch & listen as Liberty & Guardian begin Nestorations for the new season.
We are so excited to see what these two magnificent eagles have in store for us this season! There's never a dull moment here at our Redding Nest!🤣
Our awesome FORE Installation Crew along with Nick from Comer Communications made one more trip out to Eagle Island this last week to troubleshoot an issue with the Audio. They found there was a bad port that the mic was plugged into so they had to move it over to a working port. Then they pulled new cables for the old camera & the new microphone & tested both lines to make sure they were working properly. Everything looks great & is ready to roll!
For the 1st time at our Redding Nest we will have a back up camera wired up in case anything happens. The trees on Eagle Island are very old & there are large branches that have fallen down over the years during storms. One of those falling branches could take out a camera cable if they fall in a certain direction. So, having a 2nd Camera wired up & ready to go will allow us to switch back to the old Camera if we need to or if we need a better view down into the Nest Bowl. *(You might remember from an earlier post that Ron was unable to remove that old camera due to safety concerns so it is still installed above the Nest.)
It was also extremely challenging for Ron to find a perfect branch in the new Nest Tree that was up high enough & far enough out from the nest to place our new camera. But, Ron knows these trees & has a great eye for things like that so it looks like we will have a much closer & more level vantage point to see the eagles in their new nest.
However, we weren't sure how much of the nest bowl we'll be able to see with this new camera angle? That's why we discussed it & decided to wire up the old camera & have that camera ready to go, too. Then, if we don't have a good view of the Nest Bowl, we can switch back to that Camera later on in the season when eggs are laid in February. We've always thought it would be great to have a back up camera installed because we've learned anything can happen out in the elements. We decided to "make lemonade out of lemons" by wiring up the old camera that Ron couldn't safely reach & allowing us to have a 2nd option if needed.
So you can see it has been a busy Off-Season for us with plenty of challenges, as always. But, now that the majority of our work is completed, we're just as excited as all of you are to be able to sit back & watch our Redding Eaglecam 24/7 as Liberty & Guardian prepare their nest for the new season & for new beginnings. Here's to a successful year for our beloved Redding Eagles!
We can't thank you all enough for your never-ending love, generosity & support of our efforts. It truly means the world to each of us to never have to worry about securing enough funds to get the necessary Eaglecam maintenance/repairs & upgrades done each summer. It takes a Village to run an Eaglecam & we appreciate each & every one of you!
Stay tuned for the new LINK to our Redding Eaglecam on Youtube! We will post it here as soon as we have it!
