Congratulations Kurschner's Super Premium Ice Cream!
KURSCHNER'S WINS GRAND CHAMPION in Ice Cream for the 2025 World Dairy Expo Product Contest.
Now that the national press release is out (see below), I can announce to all our Barron County customers who appreciate our local ice cream that our motto, "Wisconsin Ice Cream at Its Best," was not just a marketing slogan, but our conviction that we took seriously from the beginning.
Kurschner’s won first place in the Open Class Ice Cream with Peanut Butter Chocolate, which was the flavor that the judges voted for the overall Grand Champion award among ALL the frozen dessert classes for Ice Cream, Sherbet, Frozen Yogurt, and Gelato combined.
Kurschner’s also took first place in the Regular Vanilla Ice Cream Class, and their Lemon Poppy Seed took second place in the Open Class Ice Cream (for any product that does not fit in the other classes), and their Pistachio took fourth place in the Open Class Ice Cream with Nuts.
We’ve been open only one year, so we’re honored to receive this recognition so early in our journey. From day one, we set out to make ‘Wisconsin Ice Cream at Its Best.’
We have never used artificial dyes, and we use natural ingredients and clean dairy. We are proud to craft small-batch, artisanal ice cream in our shop in the northern Wisconsin tourist town of Chetek.
Kurschner's Super Premium Ice Cream is the only producer of hard ice cream in Barron County.
Wisconsin can be proud that one of its own won this year’s Grand Championship in the home state of the World Dairy Expo in Madison.
We won against ice cream makers from New York City to the West Coast, and everyone in between, including the Midwest and Wisconsin. It is super encouraging and humbling to have won the Grand Championship.
Kurschner's will be recognized at the Awards Reception on September 29, 2025, at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin.

*NB Lake Country won the Cheese Grand Champion, which is also located in Barron County. TWO Grand Champions from BARRON COUNTY, WI. Out of the ENTIRE nation, what are the odds of that?! It says a lot about our dairy quality in Barron County.
There are a lot of people I want to thank, which will deserve a separate post.
Sincerely,
Alan Kurschner
