Next weekend Heavy Shovel Productions is having a filmmaker matchmaking event!

How it works:
Everyone who registers shares what they’re working on and who they’re hoping to meet (a DP, a producer, an editor, a writing partner). They match each person with three people who could actually help, and at the event you scan a QR code to find out who your match is. After three rounds it turns into a party. It’s approval-only, so the room is all filmmakers and people working in film. Link to register is in our bio!! At check out Use discount code: CHICAGO

Anamorphic lenses have been around since World War I. Originally created for military use with tanks to be able to see from a wide point of view from a small viewing slit. Later in 1926 they were adopted to cinema and then later on bought by 20th century fox and they created what we know today as cinescope.

The Atlas Lens Co. Mercury’s showcase how far that technology has come over the last 100 years. At Half the size and weight of most professional anamorphic lenses the mercury’s are one of a kind. With their warm tones and optical personality they really stand out. Check them out for your next production!!

Our ARRI Ensō’s on set with DP Brian Crawford on a recent project shot right here in the Camera Ambassador 🎥📸 shop featuring Chicago Artist ᥫ᭡ face✮˙˖°

“The vintage elements give such a nostalgic feeling. Combining the lenses with the Mini LF rated at 1600ei to get a bit more texture really proved the perfect combo for this project. Being able to shoot in natural light and studio type environments I really got to see what the vintage elements were about especially in our sunrise scenes. Very good glass. Even without the vintage element’s present the lenses still perform very well and have a look very similar to other arri glass like the signature primes. Oh and the close focus is really really good.”

“Breaking barriers looks like creating an industry where things are more accessible to all, and creating systems that are kinder and more sustainable. Creating a space for those who may not come from a traditional background, even if it means
doing things a different way” -ED
