Aug. 29 and Sept. 4: PT Women’s Chorus concerts

The newly formed Port Townsend Women's Chorus is making its concert debut on Friday, August 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 609 Taylor Street in Port Townsend. We warmly invite you to come hear the chorus, about 50 voices strong, performing literature that is sure to move and inspire listeners. Some of the pieces featured are the haunting “Can We Sing the Darkness to Light?” by Kyle Pedersen, and the sentimental “Music in My Mother’s House” by Stuart Stotts. More familiar songs include a Barbershop arrangement of Helen Reddy’s “I Am Woman,” and an exciting rendition of Carly Simon’s “Let the River Run.”

A second concert will be offered on Thursday, Sept. 4, also at 7:00 p.m. and at the same location. The Women’s Chorus is a new branch of the Community Chorus of Port Townsend and East Jefferson County and has enjoyed rehearsing over the past couple of months to prepare for the upcoming performances. The chorus is directed by Leslie Lewis and accompanied by Lisa Lanza, with guest musicians Connie Rosenquist on violin and Marge Rosen, Katie Kierczynski and Elizabeth Becker on percussion.
