It's an exciting time of the year on Chincoteague and Assateague! New foals are being born everyday on the island and it generates a positive energy in the area!

While the total may not surpass last year's 100 plus total foals, it looks like it's going to be a very strong year if you follow Darcy Coles fantastic statistics that she keeps!

For your consideration, Neversink Farm is a great place for your new foal! If you are looking for a full service facility we offer purpose built facilities and our foal pre-school program for socialization. Our location also allows you to continue your connection to Chincoteague -- we are 90 seconds from the Wallops Island base/Royal Farms.

Neversink is a cradle to grave facility - we offer full service boarding, saddle training, a riding arena, trails and much more!

We have limited space so if you are interested in purchasing a foal at auction, we suggest you contact us in advance and make a no cost/no obligation reservation. It's not too early to do so, and we already have a few reservations for this year! Again space is limited!

You are welcome to come see our facilities and meet our team! PM us for more information!

Earthset.

The Artemis II crew captured this view of an Earthset on April 6, 2026, as they flew around the Moon.

The image is reminiscent of the iconic Earthrise image taken by astronaut Bill Anders 58 years earlier as the Apollo 8 crew flew around the Moon. The Apollo 8 mission was the first crewed spacecraft to circumnavigate the Moon.

Yesterday, the Artemis II crew broke records for the farthest distance traveled from Earth—reaching a maximum distance of 252,756 miles from Earth during their journey. At their closest point, the Artemis II crew was within about 4,070 miles from the lunar surface.

Even in winter the scene at Cedar Gables is serene.

Spring is on its way. The ice we experienced last week is melting and ducks are on the move. No need to step outside in the cold to catch this view. It’s visible from the kitchen breakfast nook, the Assateague Living Room in the original Inn Keeper’s suite on the main floor. Head upstairs and see it from the king Waterview suite 203 and then head up another flight to the Captain’s Quarter’s suite 301 including another staircase to the widow’s watch tower. There you will see a 360 degree view. It’s a great place to birdwatch, catch the sunrise or moonrise and even a rocket launch if the time is right.

Cedar Gables is the perfect place to check in and chill out in any season.
