I will be tendering my resignation as the Erie County NYSSA Director in the Spring. I have high hopes that someone will want to take on this responsibility and represent Erie County at the State level.
Erie County has traditionally had Sled Registration numbers among the top 2 or 3 Counties in the State. We need to have an effective and committed representative at the State level. There are a few NYSSA Board Meetings left before I step out and I would welcome anyone interested to join me at a meeting.
The Director responsibilities can be found in the NYSSA By-Laws and Policy Manual on the NYSSA website. The required involvement is to be on a Standing Committee (I am on the Trails & Funding Committee) and attend the meetings which are about 1/2 in-person and 1/2 virtual. You can be as involved as you want beyond that (I have been on the By-Laws Ad Hoc Committee for about a year).
The main benefit of having a Director representing the County is to provide a direct information pathway to communicate issues, comments, concerns and questions between the Federation Clubs and NYSSA.
If you are interested (or know someone that may be interested, pass this along), message me and we can talk.

The Club Reps approved a motion at yesterday's meeting to donate $1000 to Hurricane Helene Disaster Relief. $500 will be donated to the American Red Cross. They have a fund dedicated to Helene Relief. $500 will be donated to World Central Kitchen. WCK was here in Erie County during the 2022 Christmas Blizzard working with snowmobile clubs and their members providing assistance and meals.
Snowmobilers are an extremely generous collection of people. I am urging NYSSA; County Federations/Associations; Clubs and Club Members across New York State and beyond to consider making a donation to help the people and communities affected by Hurricane Helene.
