Other news from a busy winter at the ranch, we acquired a new horse to keep Wings company. His name is Cowboy and he is the paint horse in the forefront of the picture.

We have done a lot of remodeling in the cabins, including new carpet and new vinyl. We'd like to thank our good friend, Mike, who drove all the way down from Calgary to spend a week helping Tom lay carpet and vinyl.

From the tiniest little turtle to a big bull moose, we have seen lots of wildlife this week. I happened to look down and saw this little tiny turtle in the grass the other day. Fortunate for him, I did not step on him. He was taken back down by the pond where he would be safer. The bull moose walked out by the pond while I was out cleaning a cabin today.

Two new kids at the Diamond T. We brought these twin brothers home on May 8, 2018. They were born January 4, 2018. Thinking of names...any ideas? Toms' idea is Orville and Wilbur, because they can really fly. They jumped right over the fence of their pen and we spent a long time trying to catch them. Under fences, over fences, up the pasture, down the pasture and all around. They wore us out. We left them alone and finally their curiosity took them into the barn. We came out and closed the door and they were safely kept. They are getting used to us now. Cute, but ornery.

Spring is finally arriving. We have had robins, swallows, geese, ducks, grouse, varied thrush, flickers and our resident flock of wild turkeys. These Tom turkeys are fanned out in full splendor trying to impress the females. In the spring a young turkeys fancy lightly turns to love...

I spent much of the day watching and taking pictures of bald eagles. We had at least six eagles soaring around and resting in trees very near the house. Unfortunately, they were here for a feast because a elk calf was hit by a train behind our house last night. I had a hard time narrowing down the many pictures I took, so, sorry, but I am posting quite a few.

Last week we had weather in the 40's, beautiful sunset skies, sunlight playing on the mountain tops in the early morning sunrise. This week we have had over 24 inches of snow in the last three days, temps dropping into single digits tonight, turkeys eating our horses grain and 22 elk coming into the pasture in the evening to eat the horses hay. What a change!

Out my kitchen window. This morning this bald eagle was preparing the nest for her future babies. Later in the day both eagles were watching over the nest. Maybe spring is on the way.

This evening we had seven elk come in to enjoy some hay with our horses. We also had about seven or eight turkeys out there walking around them but I didn't get them in any of these shots. I was more interested in that four by five.
