One of the best parts of staying in Clayton is how easy it is to get outside. 🥾🌳

Here are a few popular spots, all just a short drive away from The Claytonian:

Pikes Peak State Park (McGregor)
• ~11 miles of trails with scenic Mississippi River overlooks, plus Bridal Veil Falls and Point Ann

Effigy Mounds National Monument (just north of Marquette)
• ~14 miles of wooded trails featuring historic Native American burial mounds along the river bluffs, plus a visitor center with exhibits and information

Osborne Park & Nature Center (Elkader)
• ~6 miles of trails with a welcome center, native wildlife exhibit, pioneer village, and easy walking paths

The Claytonian is now booking for the 2026 season. We offer both our Riverfront Home and motel-style rooms.

Early season rates (through May, excluding Memorial Day weekend):

• Riverfront Home — $450 for two nights
(3 bedrooms, sleeps 6, full kitchen, living & dining rooms, 1.5 baths)

• Riverfront Rooms — $125 for two nights
(single queen bed, motel-style)
