WHEN WE SAY NORTH IOWA IS WELCOMING THE WORLD, WE REALLY MEAN IT
Clear Lake and the Mason City Municipal Airport will welcome pilots and teams from eight countries tonight as the 33rd FAI World Aerobatic Championship officially gets underway.
Tonight’s official event is the Parade of Nations & Opening Ceremony.
Thirty-four elite pilots are representing:
🇧🇷 Brazil
🇨🇦 Canada
🇫🇷 France
🇬🇹 Guatemala
🇵🇹 Portugal
🇷🇴 Romania
🇪🇸 Spain
🇺🇸 United States
Tonight’s free celebration takes place in downtown Clear Lake:
• 5:00 p.m. — Faith Takes Flight gathering
• 5:30 p.m. — Live music by Stubble Trouble at the City Park Bandshell
• 6:30 p.m. — Parade of Nations down Main Avenue, beginning near City Hall and continuing to City Park
• 6:50 p.m. — Official Opening Ceremony, including recognition of the participating nations and the formal opening of the championship
• 8:00 p.m. — Stubble Trouble returns to the Bandshell
Pilots and team members will carry their national flags during the parade, and miniature flags representing the participating countries will be distributed while supplies last.
Bring a lawn chair, line Main Avenue and help give these international visitors a true North Iowa welcome. This is the first time in 13 years that the United States has hosted the World Aerobatic Championship—and it is happening right here.
Competition flying begins Monday at the Mason City Municipal Airport.
