We've noticed that a few Airbnb places across and down the street are telling their guests to park in our motel's private parking lot with their vehicles and boat trailers. It's been a real hassle, and we've spent a lot trying to keep them out. The City of Clear Lake is on our side, handing out parking tickets, and we'll keep towing if we have to. This not only puts us in a tricky spot liability-wise, but it's also not cool since they're our competitors. Thanks for understanding and helping us sort this out. We have notified Airbnb on these addresses but if you rent a house please don’t park here, we have never authorized anyone to park here unless you have a room. Parking is tough here, don’t make business owners pay for the irresponsible people buying Airbnbs with no parking.

We got our Facebook account back few months ago, but I didn’t know that… anyways we’re back but kite festival is not. See y’all next year for it!

We have made the decision to cancel the 2026 Color the Wind Kite Festival due to unsafe ice conditions near the shoreline on Clear Lake. After closely monitoring the ice in partnership with local safety officials, it was determined that the ice is not stable enough to host the event. Safety is always our top priority.

We also explored moving the festival to land, but FAA regulations, space limitations, parking, and lack of electricity make that option unworkable.

We know how much this event means to our community and visitors. Our team is just as disappointed, but safety must come first.

Thank you for your support of Color the Wind. We look forward to better conditions and bringing the festival back next year, Feb. 20, 2027.
