The primary objective is to establish an old world style marketplace specializing in Renaissance and Pyrate garb, as well as various articles from the early 1700 to late 1800’s. The marketing strategy for the shop is derived from the concept that the Tampa Bay surrounding area is saturated by Renaissance Festivals, Pyrate Festivals, Gasparilla and the accompanying Krewes, Celtic Faires and a profe
ssional football team that is aptly named “Tampa Bay Buccaneers”. The strategy incorporates the philosophy that with all of these relating events occurring all over the Tampa Bay area throughout the year, the need has presented itself for a specialized retail environment that will accommodate the needs of this audience. Ye Olde Tortuga will serve the market populations in Pinellas County and nearby Tampa focusing on individuals and organizations affiliated with local festivals, as well as Krewes. There is an additional market located in Sarasota and other towns which in a similar radius that also has expressed a need for a shop of this caliber. In addition to the previously stated set markets, there is also the “transient” market, known as tourists. Due to the inherit need to maintain authentic integrity concerning the specific periods, it is possible that the academia arena will also support Ye Olde Tortuga. The various college and university population represents over 50,000 students within the Tampa Bay area.
