If you are staying with us as a monthly guest we would highly recommend signing up for these alerts to help stay informed of the local weather.

There are several ways to sign up. You can visit the county website at www.whitecounty.net, check out the White County Public Safety page and by clicking the Sign Up Button, or by texting "WhiteCoAlerts" to 99411 to sign up.

Weather systems can materialize, shift, and or increase in intensity at a moments notice which makes it difficult for us to quickly distribute information to the masses. Having these alerts set up is a great way to get information straight from the local authorities on what is happening in our area.

If you are unaware of where the safest places are within the park to take shelter please contact our office.

White County Public Safety personnel continue to respond to impacts from Tuesday evening’s severe thunderstorms.

Between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., White County 911 received 69 emergency calls. At 8:38 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for White and Towns counties due to radar-indicated rotation. CodeRED emergency notifications were sent, and White County’s outdoor warning sirens were activated. While no tornado was confirmed and no injuries have been reported, the storms caused widespread impacts across the county.

Emergency responders handled:

* 🌳 19 reports of trees blocking roadways
* ⚡️ 7 reports of downed power lines
* 🚗 1 weather-related motor vehicle accident
* 🏠 1 report of a tree on a residence

Fire Services, EMS, Emergency Management, Law Enforcement, Public Works, and White County 911 implemented operational plans and called in additional personnel to support response efforts throughout the night. White County Emergency Management is also assisting Habersham County by fulfilling mutual aid request for a portable generator.

Power restoration efforts continue this morning. As of 9:30 a.m., outages include:

* Habersham EMC: 904 customers
* Georgia Power: 94 customers

Current road closures due to downed trees:

* Rabun Road near Bean Creek Road
* Poplar Stump Road near Myra Branch Road
* Chimney Mountain Road near 199 Chimney Mountain Road
* Mauldin Road near 767 Mauldin Road
* Claude Sims Road at Shepherd Drive

Please continue to use caution while traveling, watch for utility crews and emergency personnel working in the area, and never approach or drive over downed power lines.

We appreciate the outstanding work of our Fire Services, EMS, Emergency Management, Law Enforcement, White County Public Works, GDOT, Habersham EMC, Georgia Power, and all of our response partners who worked through the night to keep our community safe.

One morning it's a proud mama duck leading her little ones on their latest adventure. The next, it's our resident blue heron patiently standing watch along the lake. These quiet moments are part of what makes camping so special. They remind us to slow down, put the phone away for a little while, sip that extra cup of coffee, and simply enjoy the beauty that's all around us.

Whether you're here for a weekend getaway or staying a little longer, don't forget to keep an eye out for the wildlife that calls Leisure Acres home. You never know what you might see around the next bend. 🦢🌿

One morning it's a proud mama duck leading her little ones on their latest adventure. The next, it's our resident blue heron patiently standing watch along the lake.

These quiet moments are part of what makes camping so special. They remind us to slow down, put the phone away for a little while (other than to snap a pic), sip that extra cup of coffee, and simply enjoy the beauty that's all around us.

Whether you're here for a weekend getaway or staying a little longer, don't forget to keep an eye out for the wildlife that calls Leisure Acres home. You never know what you might see around the next bend.
