Helping out with a new BMX track!
Building the track - a timeline.
2017:
- write a new business plan so that the goals and objectives of Globe BMX are documented and can be the foundation for all the pieces of the new track and current club operations.
- build up the club’s financial base
2018:
- establish a sound, reliable and equally beneficial lease agreement with the City of Saskatoon. Make many drafts. Approve it with lawyers. Present it to City Council. Get the stamp of approval.
- connect and collaborate with legendary and experienced track Designer Tom Ritz Designs to make sure the new track will meet many goals; for both racing and community members, footprint limitations and structural and governing body regulations.
- hire Crosby Hanna & Associates for their guidance and excellence in landscape design and development. Work with the amazing Michelle!!
- make multiple budgets and project plans to be prepared.
2019:
- start the approvals process with the City of Saskatoon and multiple departments within.
- finalize track design and layout
2020:
- kick off fundraising campaign; Buy a Meter Build the Track, during a pandemic. Timing is everything 😂
- raise over $200k in cash, services and materials in the first 6 months
- apply for a TON of grants
2021
- apply for more grants
- win some grants!
- hit the 40% funded mark
We know there are lots of new faces around here and we wanted bring you up to speed with where we are at. We’ve been working on a new track build for a few years now, and although it seems like slow process, we are committed to doing it right, building something epic and making sure this track is here for generations to come.
If you know a business interested in helping or becoming a sponsor, visit this link https://globebmx.com/track-update/ to read about the plans, the campaign and how you can help with fundraising! In the summer, our focus shifts to racing/coaching/operations but come October the new track game face is back. We’re in it the long game and committed to it. Thank you to every sponsor and person who’s been on this ride, and we look forward to more jumping on board!
