A subtle shift happens when August turns into September. The lake water stays warm but the evenings begin to whisper of fall. It is that beautiful, bittersweet time when we begin trading our bathing suits for cozy sweatshirts and stay out just a little longer as it turns dark to watch the stars come out. The quiet rhythm of Takundewide Cottages carries on...beautiful in every single season.

You can almost hear the water lapping against the dock. Screens are forgotten. The world shrinks down to two young friends and the magic of a Lake George sunset. Exactly the same as it was when we were kids.

There’s something especially nice about the lake after the busiest part of summer.

The mornings are quiet. There’s still plenty of warm weather for swimming and being on the water, but you can also play a little tennis or pickleball, wander the property, or simply settle into the screened porch with a book.

Then dinner, a long evening by the lake, and another day with nowhere much to be.

Our cottage sits on 21 acres with 700 feet of Lake George shoreline, sandy beach, boathouse sundecks, and tennis/pickleball.

Cottage #19: August 29–September 4: squeeze in one more good week of summer before Fall arrives.

This is the part of a lake vacation we love the most.

Running around the lawn in the early evening, playing Duck Duck Goose until someone finally decides it's time to stop.

On the dock, jumping in, drying off in the sun, and jumping back in.

The days aren't planned down to the minute. They just happen. August 29 - September 4, Cottage #19 is available.

Slow mornings on the screened porch, coffee in hand. A swim whenever you feel like it. An afternoon on the water. Dinner outside. And a long, quiet evening with the lake just beyond the lawn.

Our 2-bedroom cottage sits on 21 acres with 700 feet of Lake George shoreline, so there’s plenty of room to settle in and disappear for a while. Pickleball/tennis just steps away.

There’s something wonderfully old-fashioned about a summer day at the lake.

Bare feet on the grass. A chair under the trees. Kids wandering down to the water whenever they feel like it. And then there’s the beach.

This is the kind of summer we love here — unhurried, outside, and together.
