🌿 Ditch the Plastic. Protect Your Brain (and Your Hair). 🌿
Did you know? Recent research found that human brains now contain micro- and nanoplastics at levels up to 7–30 times higher than in livers or kidneys. In 2024 samples, concentrations reached roughly 50% higher than in 2016, equivalent to about a plastic spoon’s worth of tiny shards in the average brain.
These particles come from everyday sources: synthetic clothing (polyester, nylon, plastic coated imported wool etc.) that sheds microfibers every wash and wear, plus plastic-contaminated water and food. They’re showing up in our air, water, organs, and even crossing barriers into the brain.
Dr. Andrew Huberman dove deep into this on his podcast episode “The Effects of Microplastics on Your Health & How to Reduce Them” — highly recommend listening for the full science and practical tips on minimizing exposure. I’ve linked this podcast in comments.
