The backyard garden at The Garden House is full of fruit right now. So many plums are ready to be picked and tons of delicious large blackberries.

There are also cucumbers, red cherry tomatoes, and sun gold baby tomatoes (my favorite). Come stay at The Garden House or The Peach Suite and pick fruits and veggies or herbs to cook with.

Our artichokes are growing so large they need their own pot or they just may take over the garden bed! This baby got replanted in its own space.

Now I’m on the lookout for one more large terracotta pot for the other guy.

The stone fruit trees got pruned and are starting to bud.

And sweet 5 star reviews are still coming in strong! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Have you worked in your garden yet this month? Today’s been a gorgeous day full of brisk blue skies and lots of beautiful sunshine. I took advantage of the fabulous weather and worked in the yard this morning. 🪴

Have you seen our monthly garden checklists yet? It’s not too late to catch up in your yard even with last month’s tasks.

I will continue to update these checklists each month as I research, learn, and prep my own yard. It takes a little maintenance and attention to have lovely fruit and veggies year round.

Homegrown broccoli from The Garden House bigger than my head. Have you ever had broccoli straight from the garden? It’s SO delicious.

It’s great cooked or roasted but…..I also just love it raw dipped in some homemade ranch. Yummmmm!

How do you remember what to keep up on in the garden? 🤪

What needs to be fertilized and when? When do I prune the stone fruit tree? What about the citrus? And on and on…

It can be so overwhelming.

Well my friends, in an effort to simplify my own life and also have a productive and beautiful organic garden, I’ve been putting together a list of monthly tasks on the garden. I’d love to share it with you.

We may not have all of the same plants or trees but I hope it helps you a bit. I plan to share each month. So here’s January’s just a little bit late.

They’ll be saved in my story highlights as well.

We had four of our largest trees on the Garden House property pruned and cleaned all up this month….Two big sycamores, a large Chinese elm and a redwood.

I don’t know how old these two huge sycamore trees are but they have to be many many years old. They make me sneeze during their pollen dropping season but man I sure love them. They are sooooo big and beautiful.

So I definitely want to take good care of them. They shade an are portion of the property and are just so special.

Did you know…. I truly love hosting our guests at The Garden House property? I think it’s so much fun to make a space cozy and comfortable and then to invite people in to enjoy it.

The sweet notes that are left by guests about how much they enjoyed snuggling up by the fire or picking herbs in the garden to cook with just make my heart so happy.

I can’t wait to host you or someone you love. Even if you’re local….consider a short staycation with your love or a weekend with the girls. Walk to Old Town Clovis for meals and coffee and enjoy the property by roaming in the garden, or sitting by the fire pit, or reading on the hammock.

January and February have some openings and these months the cost to stay is a bit lower. Check it out!

When you stay at The Garden House or The Peach Suite you get to use our little basket and snips to enjoy the garden and pick all of the fresh veggies, fruit, and herbs you’d like. Right now in our winter garden we have snap peas, snow peas, kale, broccoli, cabbage, Swiss chard, lots of herbs, and apparently kohlrabi (I thought it was purple broccoli)!

Now I need to research what to do with kohlrabi. Any ideas? Feel free to share!
