Today is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day. 💗
Metastatic breast cancer (MBC) is stage IV breast cancer, meaning it has spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body, such as the bones, lungs, liver, or brain. For some people it comes back years after early-stage treatment; for others it’s how they’re first diagnosed.
There’s no cure for MBC (yet). Treatment focuses on controlling the cancer, managing side effects, and protecting quality of life, and many people live with it for years while in ongoing treatment.
That’s why today matters. Awareness helps drive research funding and reminds us that “pink” isn’t just about early detection.
If someone you love is living with MBC, reach out. Ask how they’re really doing, listen without trying to fix it, and offer something specific: a meal, a ride to treatment, an hour of company. 💕
