There’s just something special about neighbors at the cabin. 💙🌿

Our sweet neighbor stopped us as we were admiring her hydrangeas in full bloom and cut some of the beautiful flowers for us, bringing a little piece of the mountains inside. Now they’re drying and adding the perfect touch of late summer to the cabin.

It’s the simple, thoughtful gestures like this that make Longfellow Pines feel even more like home. 🏡💙

🍂 FALL COLOR FORECAST — ASHEVILLE, NC 🍁

The countdown to one of the most beautiful times of year in the Blue Ridge Mountains has officially begun! 🌄🍂

The latest 2026 forecast is calling for fall color to begin showing in the highest elevations in late September, with the color gradually working its way down the mountains.

🍁 Early October: Higher elevations and the Blue Ridge Parkway begin to light up.

🍂 Mid-October: Color spreads across the mountains and higher elevations around Asheville.

❤️ Mid-to-late October: The big show! Asheville and surrounding mountain communities should be approaching their best mix of brilliant reds, oranges and golds.

This year’s forecast suggests the Asheville area could have some of the better foliage conditions in the North Carolina mountains, although warm temperatures and drought in surrounding areas could make the season somewhat variable. (College of Natural Resources⁠)

And that’s the magic of fall in the Blue Ridge… the colors don’t arrive all at once. They cascade down the mountains, giving us several weeks of spectacular scenery. 🍁🌄

🌲Sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch, listening to the mountains wake up, with a cool breeze rolling through… and fresh hydrangeas hanging on the wall, slowly drying into something beautiful.

There’s something special about a small river winding through the Blue Ridge Mountains. 💦🏔️
