We're spending September highlighting Attractions, Events, Shop Stops, and Food for the Big Kansas Road Trip Pop-Up in Concordia on Saturday, October 3rd. Our first Spotlight today is an Explorer Extra! While BKRT is primarily in Concordia, we wanted to feature our other Cloud County communities as well in case you're heading through or want to take a little detour. Cloud County has some fantastic spots to explore! Let's head to Clyde!
Clyde is just 15 miles east of Concordia on Highway 9. Check out some of our favorite spots...
Clyde Ideal Market is a local family-owned grocery store located at 331 Washington Street. A convenient one-stop shop where you can find everything you need from the everyday essentials to specialty items from around the world. Be sure to grab some Ideally Roasted Coffee, locally roasted, while you're there!
Seifert Jewelry, 316 Washington, is the only jeweler in Cloud County. 4 generations of this family-owned business means you can trust us to look after your jewelry custom creation, repair and alterations. They offer fine jewelry, watches, crystal, baby jewelry and gifts and giftware for all occasions. We are a full-service watch, clock, and jewelry repair in-store.
Elk Creek Gardens 2.0, 216 Washington, is one of the happiest places to shop in Clyde. They are responsible for the flower pots at Cloud County Tourism as well as many other businesses in Clyde, Concordia, and the region. Beautiful outdoor and indoor plants, cute home and garden decor, hometown hospitality, and a deep rooted love and dedication to the beautification and sustainability of Clyde.
Big City Scoops has delicious hand scooped ice cream in the cutest location. Be advised it is on the second story at 312 Washington. What began as a summer project became one of the most delicious buisnesses in Clyde.
Memsieās Mercantile, 401 Campbell, is one of Clyde's newest additions. Cute decor, antique finds, and gift ideas are just a few of the things you'll find. Shop a mix of old, vintage, homemade, & antique treasures for your home, plus a small assortment of local vendors.
Ruby's Bakery & Market Oat Hill is brand new as of this summer with a permanent location at 417 Washington. Baked goods and more can be found here. She has a stand outside in case you miss them during open hours. Her new iced coffees are a big hit!
Need a place to stay? The Clyde Hotel is incredible! Old world charm with modern conveniences. Each room is decorated with intention, and the owners are just the best! The Clyde Hotel has quite the interesting story! Jolene Girard will be happy to show you around and tell you all about it!
Other spots worth mention are the Clyde Arboretum, with a variety of trees and vegetation. Clyde's first resident, Moses Heller, settled on the banks of Elk Creek which previously ran through what is now the arboretum. The Arboretum is a great spot for a walk and a picturesque setting for photos that feels almost magical!
The Clyde Community Historical Society has been busy doing many updates to their facilities. Landscaping, renovation, and preservation are looking great!
The Village Green is Clyde's outdoor entertainment venue. It is beautifully done and worth a stop. Adjoining is Reflections Park which has lovely landscaping and Clyde's first Orphan Train Statute Stroll Statue.
