National Night Out Returns to Rollins Park this Tuesday, August 7th:
Concord’s “Night Out Against Crime” draws thousands annually
The community is invited to Concord Police Department’s National Night Out this Tuesday, August 7th from 5:00 – 9:00 pm at Rollins Park. This annual free event promotes cooperation between local police and the community, while offering an abundance of entertainment and recreation opportunities for all ages.
There will be a large inflatable slide, video game demonstrations, face painting, and wildlife displays. Touch-A-Truck activities include equipment from the Concord Police Department, Concord Fire Department, General Services, as well as commercial and military equipment. The State Police will offer K9 demonstrations, and a Blackhawk helicopter from the National Guard is scheduled to land, along with equipment from JBI Helicopter. The helicopters will participate in fly-bys and be available for tours.
National Night Out attendees of all ages can visit more than 35 informational displays from local organizations, enjoy karate demonstrations, and learn more about fire safety. Eating contests for kids will include pudding, watermelon, and hot dog options. Community members can enjoy music with Mya from WJYY and dancing in the grass. Local officials will be present, and Governor Lynch is scheduled to attend.
Throughout the evening, the 3rd Annual Badge Ball Tournament will offer lively entertainment, as teams from public safety, local businesses, and organizations go head-to-head on the dodge ball court.
Free shuttle service sponsored by Havenwood Heritage Heights will once again be available from the parking lot at 2 Pillsbury Street, beginning at 4:30 pm and running through 9:00 pm. Handicapped parking is located on Broadway near the front entrance of Rollins Park.
Inexpensive food items will be available for purchase, including hot dots, pizza, lemonade, fried dough, cotton candy, and snow cones.
The Concord Police Department’s National Night Out enjoys broad sponsorship from Target, Havenwood Heritage Heights, Capital City Audio, DJ Tim Patione, Cimo’s Market, Arnie’s Ice Cream, and Associated Grocers of NE. Other sponsors include Bimbo Bakery, Hannaford, Shaw’s, and Taylor Rental, in addition to many local businesses and organizations.
