In consideration of the incoming inclement weather, campus will close today at 1 pm. All classes and campus events will be cancelled, and administrative offices will move to remote operations. We are monitoring the weather closely and will assess conditions at 6 am tomorrow. Campus updates will be shared via email and H-Alert.

The Caf Dining Hall will be open from 8 am – 7:30 pm daily regardless of campus closures.

The WAC will be open until 6 pm today. Hours for tomorrow will be included in the update sent in the morning.

Thank you Hendrix!!

How might a person who is blind or visually impaired be able to experience the total solar eclipse? One way is by turning light intensity measurement into sound pitch. Hendrix Physics Professor Dr. Damon Spayde’s electronics class followed plans from The LightSound Project (https://astrolab.fas.harvard.edu/LightSound.html) to fabricate several such assistive devices, and one will be available in the Physics Zone at Monday’s Hendrix Solar Odyssey event.

Professor of Physics Dr. Ann Wright also delivered seven LightSound devices on Friday to the Arkansas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ASBVI) to assist students in experiencing the eclipse. The devices include custom 3-D printed cases, headphones, and charging cords.
