Sunday mornings at the Otesaga have always moved a little slower — and now, so does the table.

A la carte Sunday brunch returns to 1909 this season, every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The menu ranges from salted caramel waffles with bruleed bananas to a jumbo lump crab benedict and braised short rib hash — alongside seasonal cocktails and Ommegang drafts on pour. Kody Newell, line cook on the Hawkeye Bar & Grill culinary team, is that person. In three years here, Kody has grown steadily and intentionally — taking on more responsibility, working independently, and becoming, in the words of Chef Fabio, "my most dependable employee."
