We’ve received a number of questions about the dates of the Wrangell Mountain Renaissance Faire, and we’d like to address them directly.
No, we are not intentionally competing with any other event.
The assumption that overlapping dates must indicate competition is understandable, but it isn’t how event planning works in Alaska. With a short summer season and a full calendar statewide, it is common for festivals, markets, rodeos, races, concerts, and fairs to occur on the same weekends across different communities.
Our dates were selected well in advance based on venue availability, entertainers, vendors, volunteers, and guest logistics. Like most large-scale events, planning began more than a year before public announcement.
We also want to clarify that Copper Center is its own community. The Wrangell Mountain Renaissance Faire is created for this region, just as other events are created for theirs.
We have advertised throughout Alaska, with one exception: Valdez. Out of respect for the existing renaissance faire there, we have intentionally chosen not to market our event in that community.
We believe there is room for everyone. A successful event does not require another event to fail, and Alaska is full of strong, community-driven celebrations across the state.
We look forward to welcoming guests to the Wrangell Mountain Renaissance Faire and to supporting a full and successful summer season for events throughout Alaska.
At this time, we consider the question of dates fully addressed.
We will not be engaging further in comment threads or message discussions on this topic, but we appreciate the engagement and support. Every comment, reaction, and share helps more people discover the Faire, and we are grateful for that support.
Future comments on this topic may receive a ❤️ as acknowledgment that we’ve seen them, but our focus moving forward is on building an exceptional event for our community, vendors, entertainers, and guests.
